Certification of Application Review Panelist at #TechGirls.

A nearly two-month journey has come to an end, and I’m so happy and proud to serve, for the second year, as an Application Review Panelist for the #TechGirls program.

Reviewing almost 100 applications from young girls across different countries, I was reminded once again that the desire for knowledge in #STEM is strong and present—and it is our responsibility to support it in every way we can.

The new generation of female STEM leaders is here, and we are here to support them, empower them, and provide the opportunities they need.

TechGirls is a U.S.-based summer exchange program designed to empower and support young women (ages 15–17) from the United States and selected countries around the world to pursue higher education and careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) through hands-on skills development training.

In 2025, the program will support 111 young women from 37 participating countries/territories, along with 13+ U.S. peers, in a dynamic four-week experience in the United States, complemented by a seven-month mentorship program (including pre- and post-exchange mentoring).

The core of the TechGirls program is a 23-day experience in the United States. In collaboration with Virginia Tech, participants engage in an interactive technology camp that provides an in-depth exploration of cutting-edge technologies and various educational and professional pathways in STEM. Following the camp, TechGirls travel to a U.S. city (Austin, Chicago, Cincinnati, Denver, Detroit, or Seattle) for community immersion and STEM career exploration.

TechGirls has a multiplier effect, as participants return home to conduct community-based projects under seven months of mentorship.

TechGirls is an initiative of the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.
